Great match for my old Gruen Jan 04, 2010
By Dan Hartman I have a 1965 vintage Gruen automatic watch that I was hoping to find a new band for. The watch needed an 18mm band, and I had two objectives in mind. It had to be gold plated, not gold tone...gold tone wears off and does not last. And, the band itself needed to be wider than 16mm...that was the width of the band I had on there before, and it didn't look right to me. I wanted a wider band.
This band fit the bill perfectly. It's 18mm wide throughout it's entire length, and the gold plating seems to be quite nice and durable.
I only have a few small negative remarks. One is that the color match isn't perfect...but when comparing 40+ year old gold plating to brand new, you can't really expect that...and it would take a close eye to see it. The other is that the band is a little short. It's fine for me, as I have a 6" wrist and the band is 6" long, but for those with larger wrists it may be a little on the snug side.
