These get lost sometimes when changing watch bands Mar 12, 2012

So, measure the width of your watch at the point where it attaches to the watch band (in millimeters MM) and get at least a couple of extras. These things go flying off sometimes when you are replacing them. Try to find them in a shag rug if you want aggravation.
An amateur can do a few things to her/his watches with very few tools. And it is satisfying to be able to change watch batteries, regulate the time of a mechanical watch, or replace a watchband, or even adjust the size of a metal link bracelet.
Ten minutes at the kitchen table with your watch and you have a new look. Watch bands can be had on Amazon for well under ten dollars, not the twenty or thirty dollars your local jeweler might charge for a new band. Although not all wrist bands come with spring bar pins. The pins in the watch may be damaged or get lost as mentioned above. It's good to have these extras.
