 Wrong tool for my task Jan 06, 2012

I was initially to receive this set of screwdrivers. As a band director, I'm constantly repairing instruments that have flat head screws. However, on my very first use, the blade of the screwdriver slipped out of the handle. I put it back in, tightened the fastening screw, and retried. To my surprise, this happened several more times despite repeated fastenings of the screw holding the blade in. I gave up, put the screwdrivers back in the box, and sent them back to amazon.

From the product description (excerpt: The set comes with 5 screwdrivers with 1 additional spare blade. Screwdriver sizes include: 0.60mm, 0.80mm, 1.00mm, 1.20mm and 1.40mm), I got the impression that there were five flat screwdrivers. The package includes 4 flat screwdrivers and 1 Philips screwdriver. Same is with the spare blades.
I bought this set to resize the bands on two watches (a man's Raymond Weil Freelancer and a woman's Ebel Tarawa). The screws on these two watches are of different sizes. However, the second smallest screwdriver took care of both of them. The smallest one looked to be too small for this purpose, and will likely strip the screws. The third smallest screwdriver will barely fit the Raymond Weil, but not fit the Ebel.
Other than the inaccurate product description, the screwdrivers served the purpose, and the price is reasonable. Shipping is slow, as it is not carried by Amazon Prime.

I've used it so far for computer equipment, (trouser) belts that had tiny screws, and watch repair (for replacing a battery). The latter usage saved me time and money needing to go to a watch shop. The screwdrivers have a somewhat strange design--the knob at the very top can rotate 360 degrees to no apparent benefit and the bottom bits will sometimes fall out of the assembly and need to be screwed back into place. But the bits have not worn down and they are small enough to work well with watches. Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase.
